Marine iguanas are found only on the Galapagos Islands. They prefer to live near the shore of the islands because it allows for easy access to the ocean for both protection and food. They like the hot weather of the Galapagos because it allows for their body temperatures to rise much quicker after time in the water. In order to survive, the water must not be too hot and their must be an abundance of algae.
